With our Motorail Service, you can avoid the traffic and the long drive, yet still have the convenience of having your own car there for you when you arrive. All you have to do is pack your car with all your holiday gear and check it into the rail terminal on your departure day.
Now with the reintroduction of Motorail Service aboard The Overland, Great Southern Rail provides you with the opportunity to travel in comfort on all of our Great Trains, with the convenience of having your own vehicle with you at the end of the line, to discover new and exciting places.
No matter what your reason for bringing your vehicle, Great Southern Rail’s Motorail Service provides you with a cost effective and relaxing way to take you to the far reaches of this amazing country.

CONDITIONS OF CARRIAGE AND VEHICLE SIZE LIMITS
Length, width and height restrictions:
Length
up to 5.5m per unit.
Maximum width:
2.2m
Height limits:
Melbourne – Adelaide or v.v. 1.57m
Wind deflectors, louvres etc. must be removed before loading.
Roof racks must remain empty. The height of roof racks and the length of any towbar should be included.
Caravans, including pop tops and boats are NOT conveyed by Motorail.
Vehicles must be roadworthy at time of loading and capable of being driven on to carrier.
Motorail Carriage on all GSR train services is subject to certain conditions of carriage these can be obtained from our terms and conditions page or by calling 13 21 47.
AUD $250 is the limit of liability in respect of destruction, loss or damage to your vehicle.
